Featured Speaker: Serge LeClerc

You could honestly say that Serge LeClerc started life with all odds against him. Born in an abandoned building to a runaway, teenage mother, he was conceived as a result of rape. With no other family, he and his Mom lived in the poverty-stricken inner-city where, at the age of eight, he was picked up by the authorities and sent away to a reform school that was steeped in violence, brutality and sexual abuse.

After two years, Serge was taken to a maximum security reformatory and at age thirteen he was sent to a group home. He escaped from the group home and began living on the streets where he became a gang leader, youth offender, drug kingpin and drug addict. He committed theft, fraud, drug smuggling, armed robbery, racketeering, bank heists, was Canada’s Most Dangerous Criminal and served a total of 21 years in some of the toughest prisons.

But God got a hold of his life and he experienced a dramatic transformation. With less than a fifth grade education, Serge pursued a college education and, while on parole he graduated on the Dean’s List for Outstanding Achievement.

Serge has become a much sought-after motivational speaker and has spoken to almost 3,500,000 people. He is a consultant on youth and families in Canada and abroad, started Teen Challenge in Saskatchewan, has served on several boards including a shelter for battered women and is an Associate member of the Crime Stoppers Chapters of Saskatchewan. In 2000 he received an unprecedented Canadian National Pardon which exonerated him from all past criminal convictions – possibly the only one of its kind in North America. And, in 2007 Serge was elected to the Legislative Assembly which currently takes up the majority of his time.
